The DANS Academy

The DANS Academy

The DANS Academy has the huge advantage of allowing pupils to remain in their current school environment and retain the full education opportunities and facilities that your local school can offer and maintain the full selection of educational subjects.

The structure of this course also allows students to stay at home, thereby hugely reducing the costs to parents and making a full training programme for serious young dancers possible for more families.

Thank you for equipping me with all the necessary skills I will need at Millenium Performing Arts.
— Freya Holland

This course provides intensive training to set the foundations for students to become exceptional and versatile dancers, ready to take on the demands of full-time training.

Designed, especially, to allow students' love and passion for dance to grow whilst encouraging freedom of movement and self-expression, these classes are held on weekdays, outside of school hours, for a total of up to 17 hours per week.

It’s vital for aspiring professional dancers to be versatile and able to meet the high demands of their future employment.

This is why The DANS Academy students study the range of genres listed below.

Genres include:

Ballet, Modern, Tap, Historical Dance, Repertoire, Contemporary, Drama, Musical Theatre

At The DANS Academy, we understand the importance of nurturing young talent and harnessing students' technical prowess and perfecting the principles of ballet, contemporary and jazz dance.

Students take part in the School Choreographic Competition and are entered for examinations of The Royal Academy of Dance (RAD), The Imperial Society of Teachers of Dancing (ISTD) and the London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art (LAMDA).

Senior Professional Vocational Course

Acceptance onto the senior course is by audition or invitation only. Successful students will be committed, passionate and wholly dedicated to their dance training. They must have a suitable, trainable physique to withstand the intensity and expectancy of training and future employment. They should also display a positive mental wellbeing. Yearly assessments will monitor each student’s ongoing suitability for the course.

Junior Professional Pre-Vocational Course

On the Junior Course we welcome all junior students displaying an aptitude and passion for dance who wish to explore a wider variety of dance genres and a more intense training structure. This is the ideal introduction to a focused training programme and opportunity to increase training hours with a specially designed course for this age group.

My daughter has danced with Ruth for 10 years, since she was 5 years old and has enjoyed every second. Ruth and her team are exceptionally professional and the teaching is of the very highest standard. The DANS Academy for older students looking for a career in the Arts is incredible. Ruth and the team also encourage the dancers to get involved in the All England Dance Festivals where students can compete whilst gaining valuable performance experience. I would recommend - 10 out of 10
